Update regarding provider telephone calls
Provider telephone call update starting July 15th, 2026

Dear Pediatrics 5280 Families,
To continue providing timely access to a provider when your child needs care, we are updating our process for phone conversations that require provider review and medical decision-making. In some situations—such as discussing lab or imaging results, specialist recommendations, hospital follow-up, medication changes, or urgent after-hours medical guidance—these services may be billed to your insurance, similar to an office visit or other medical care. Because coverage varies by insurance plan, any associated cost may differ from family to family. We want to be transparent about this process while continuing to provide the thoughtful medical guidance your child deserves.
We will also be adding a code that is used to report services provided during regularly scheduled evening, weekend, or holiday office hours. This does not apply to flu clinics or other scheduled vaccine-only clinics held on Saturdays or Sundays.
For non-urgent concerns, we encourage families to use the “Is Your Child Sick?” resources on our website, download the ChildrensMD App - created by Children's Hospital Colorado, visit www.healthychildren.org, reference books “Your Childs Health and/or My Child is Sick”, both by Barton Schmitt, or contact our office during regular business hours (8am-5pm - closed for lunch 12pm-1pm).
As always, if your child is experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Thank you for your understanding and for trusting us with your child’s care.
